"But they will not sit back and watch the enemy attack our positions. If the military are threatened being killed, they may - as previously - open fire," the statement notes.
As also noted, the decision on opening fire is taken by the direct commander who sees the situation on spot.
According to the General Staff, the "provocative attacks" mean unaimed fire on Ukrainian military positions.
At the same time, the "threat to life" is understood as aimed fire or approaching of sabotage and reconnaissance groups to Ukrainian position.
