This was announced by Ukraine's Prime Minister Arsenii Yatseniuk at the Cabinet's meeting, Censor.NET's correspondent reported.
"The government has decided to task Naftohaz to stop buying Russian gas," he said.
"They [the Russians - ed.] got it wrong: it is not them not supplying the gas, it is us not buying it," the prime minister said.
According to him, price offers by Ukraine's European partners are much better than those from our eastern partner.
Yatseniuk reminded that total consumption of gas in the country had decreased by 20 percent this year.
According to the prime minister, the government's goal is to reach total energy independence in the next 10 years.
