Gazprom stops gas supplies to Ukraine

Russia's Gazprom suspends gas supplies to Naftohaz Ukrainy unless new payments are received.

Gazprom CEO Alexey Miller told journalists, Censor.NET reports citing TASS.

At the same time, Miller is concerned that Ukraine's refusal to buy Russian gas supposedly threatens the transit of gas to Europe as well as its supply to Ukrainian consumers.

"Today, at 10 a.m., Naftohaz used up all prepaid volumes of Russian gas. No new prepayment has been received from Naftohaz as well as any request for further supply of gas. Thus, all supplies are suspended until the Ukrainian company resumes payments.

"At the same time, now before the onset of severe frosts, Ukraine is actively withdrawing gas from underground storage facilities which are already insufficiently filled. Refusing to purchase Russian gas poses serious risks to reliable transit of gas to Europe through Ukraine and gas supplies to Ukrainian consumers this winter," he said.
