This was announced by National Security and Defense Council Secretary Oleksandr Turchynov, Censor.NET reports citing the NSDC press service.
"Prior to opening the fire, the Turkish side has warned Russia many times against its airspace violation by military jets of the Russian Federation air forces. Several more warnings have been made before firing, and only after that was the Russian plane attacked," he said, adding that Turkish military were fulfilling their duty to their country's airspace and their people's security.
Turchynov believes that if Ukrainian airspace is violated by war planes, "Ukrainian military shall act in similar manner to protect our country from the aerial aggression."
