Gazprom to cut off gas supplies to Ukraine in two days if no payment received, - Miller

Despite small amounts of gas currently received by Ukraine, the prepayment will cover several days of deliveries only.

Gazprom CEO Alexey Miller told reporters responding to a question about the advance payment by Naftohaz. According to him, the advance payment has not yet been received, Censor.NET reports citing Interfax-Ukraine.

"The volume of the prepaid gas is running low. I think that the prepayment covers a couple of days, maybe a day or two," Gazprom CEO said.

According to him, he had got no information that Ukraine was going to make an advance payment.

"If we don't receive the advance payment, gas supply to Ukraine will be stopped," Miller said.

He stressed that Ukraine was consuming a small amount of gas lately.

"Even with such small gas consumption by Ukraine the prepayment will cover a few days of gas supply. Therefore, if there is no advance payment, the delivery of gas will be ceased," the head of Gazprom said.

Miller also noted that Ukraine increased consumption of gas from its underground gas storage facilities.

"We record a rather significant increase. It certainly concerns us since Ukraine will need the gas from underground storage facilities for the winter peak in January-February first of all," Miller said.
