It is expected that the issue of strengthening of control over the EU's internal borders will be considered during the meeting dedicated to the situation concerning the terrorist attacks in Paris and refugee crisis in Europe.
"Plenty of people, whom the first EU country on their way is unable to register, penetrate through the external border. They continue travelling in the EU. If we do not have the internal control, they will finally reach Finland," Interior Ministry Head Päivi Nerg said.
He noted that Finland intended to establish temporary control over internal borders in all Schengen States simultaneously. This would help reduce uneven migration flow burden on European states. It would be possible to balance the burden by moving the asylum seekers after that, according to Finland's planned offer at the future meeting in Brussels.
