The decision by the committee has been read out at the Kryvyi Rih city council by the committee head Pavlo Hivel, Censor.NET reports citing Ukrainski Novyny.
11 out of 18 committee members voted in favor.
Vilkul thanked his compatriots for support and took the oath at the city council session.
As reported earlier, Nov. 16 Central Election Committee published information that acting mayor Yurii Vilkul (Opposition Bloc party) had won the city mayoral election in Kryvyi Rih, the Dnipropetrovsk region.
The CEC said Vilkul received 49.25 percent of votes (89,209 people), while Samopomich mayoral candidate Yurii Myloboh - 48.83 percent of votes (88,457 people).
Later, Samopomich candidate Yurii Myloboh announced of massive ballot box stuffing at some of the Kryvyi Rih precincts. The margin between the two candidates is only 600 votes.
Subsequently, UDAR party MP Yehor Firsov said that a criminal proceeding has been initiated regarding the Kryvyi Rih falsifications.
Last night, thousands of city residents went out for a demonstration near the city council with the goal to protect their votes from alleged rigging by the acting mayor.
