Court of Appeal's judge Valerii Lashkevych has released Rostyslav Patseliak from custody under house arrest today. Patseliak, the commander of Lviv Berkut, took part in beating Maidan activists in Mariinskyi Park on Feb. 18, 2014.

Censor.NET Chief Editor Yurii Butusov writes it on his Facebook page referring to the post by activist Taras Hataliak.

"The Lviv company of Berkut riot police force participated in the massacre in Mariinskyi Park on Feb. 18, 2014, when some participants of the anti-regime demonstration were slaughtered and shot down while dozens others were beaten and injured.

"Berkut commanders and their subordinates' guilt is obvious - they grossly violated the law on militia, collaborating with armed bandits, and not taking measures to restore order. They also received illegal extra cash for the suppression of protests.

"And now the man linked to the case of mass murder is released home - after many Berkut commanders, who participated in the crimes of regime, escaped from investigation, having been released under house arrest.

"I'd like to address the High Qualification Commission of Judges and deputies of the Verkhovna Rada with a request to assess the actions of judge Lashkevych and bring him to justice for complicity in concealing crimes against Maidan," Butusov wrote.
