 Court extends pretrial detention of two former Berkut policemen accused of murder of 39 Euromaidan activists

The Sviatoshyn district court of Kyiv has extended the pretrial detention of former Berkut riot police officers Serhii Zinchenko and Pavlo Abroskin charged of murder of 39 Euromaidan activists until January 10, 2016.

This was stated by presiding judge Serhii Diachuk, Censor.NET informs citing Ukrainski Novyny.

Thus, the court has granted the appeal of the prosecutor's office to extend the pretrial detention of the suspects.

The judge said he did not consider the detention of the accused to be excessive as a large number of materials of the case have not yet been investigated and witnesses, victims, and experts have not been questioned.

Having announced the decision, the court recessed the meeting until Dec. 8.

The court questioned the victim Lilia Pankiv on Thursday, Nov. 12.
