 Establishment of National Bureau of Investigation should be followed by creation of fully independent prosecutor's office, Ukraine's PM says

The Prosecutor General's Office has to share certain powers with the National Bureau of Investigation. This is a new, fully independent agency. We should turn Prosecutor's office into a fully independent and impartial authority at the next stage.

Prime Minister of Ukraine Arsenii Yatseniuk stressed at a meeting with Desmond Swayne, Minister of State at the Department for International Development of the United Kingdom on Thursday, Nov. 12, Censor.NET reports citing the press service of the government.

He noted that the relevant act had been adopted by the Verkhovna Rada today .

"I appreciate a very bold move of members of the Ukrainian Parliament to make Ukraine closer to the EU", Arsenii Yatseniuk said commenting on the changes to the Ukrainian Labour Code concerning the harmonization of country's legislation with the EU law supported by the Parliament today.

During the meeting, Desmond Swayne confirmed the willingness of the British Government to provide comprehensive assistance in the implementation of democratic reforms in Ukraine and countering the Russian aggression.

Arsenii Yatseniuk noted the importance of the support provided by the British partners to Ukraine and accentuated that the EU and the U.S. should preserve unity to help Ukraine solve pressing issues.

The meeting concerned promising directions of bilateral cooperation, in particular, reform of the customs service of Ukraine, tax authorities, assistance in establishing a system of strategic communications.

The interlocutors also discussed the peaceful settlement in the East of the country as well as the needs of internally displaced persons in Ukraine.
