The decision was supported by 245 MPs with the necessary minimum of 226 votes, Censor.NET reports.
The resolution recognizes the deportation of Crimean Tatars from the peninsula in 1944 as a genocide of the Crimean Tatar people.
To commemorate the tragedy, May 18 is proposed to be the Day of Remembrance for the victims of the genocide of the Crimean Tatar people.
Earlier, Chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, Poroshenko Bloc MP Refat Chubarov urged deputies to support the resolution, noting that today, the Crimean Tatar people which almost managed to return to its homeland in the years of Ukraine's independence is again jeopardized with a displacement.
"This threat is posed by the Russian occupation. This can be prevented only by reclaiming Crimea as part of Ukraine. The approval of this resolution is another step towards Crimea's return," Chubarov said.
