"I expect the National Security and Defense Council to support the tasks our country is facing, which are stated in the national security strategy and military doctrine. That is about five percent of the GDP should be directed to cover the security and defense needs of which about three percent will be spent for the country's defense," he said.
According to Turchynov, a range of issues related to the strengthening of aerospace intelligence as well as the issue of the air defense of Ukraine strengthening will be considered at a meeting of the National Security and Defense Council.
"The consideration of this issue is caused by the analysis of actions taking place in the Middle East, namely Russia's active use of aircraft in Syria," the NSDC secretary said.
