"We are creating entirely new police," - National Police Head Dekanoidze

According to head of the National Police Khatia Dekanoidze, the patrol police will be launched in Mukacheve, Dnipropetrovsk, Mykolaiv, and Lutsk by December 2015.

Censor.NET reports citing Interior Ministry press service.

Application process for the new patrol police started on Thursday, Nov. 5 in Mariupol. Creation of KORD special task police force is underway.

Khatia Dekanoidze also elaborated on the process of assessing those willing to serve in the National Police.

"First of all, central office personnel will be assessed. Operational unit officers are to follow: they will have to pass specialized testing and IQ tests. If necessary, division heads could undergo polygraph testing. Some of the candidates could be additionally interviewed, should the commission decide," Dekanoidze said.

"We are creating entirely new police. Everyone should see that this process is transparent and fair, and that the candidates can be appointed police officers only after assessment. We need fair, healthy, and adequate staff," Khatia Dekanoidze resumed.
