 Court of Appeal overturns not-guilty verdict of Tax Academy ex-rector Melnyk

The Court of Appeal of Kyiv region has reversed the judgment of non-acquittal of former rector of the Ukrainian Tax Academy, former Verkhovna Rada deputy from the Party of Regions Petro Melnyk.

This was stated by the press service of the Court of Appeal of Kyiv region, Censor.NET reports.

"Nov. 4, 2015, the Judicial Chamber on Criminal Cases of Court of Appeal of Kyiv region has considered an appeal in criminal proceeding No. 11 - кп/780/989/15 filed by the prosecutor of the Kyiv regional prosecutor's office Y. Vlasov.

"After hearing the report of the presiding judge, the arguments of the prosecutor, who has filed the appeal, objections of the defenders, and explanations of Petro Melnyk, the Judicial Chamber on Criminal Cases of Court of Appeal of Kyiv region decided to cancel the verdict, and to appoint a new trial, which should be held from the stage of the preparatory court session with another composition of the court," the press service of the Court of Appeal said.

It should be reminded that Petro Melnyk was acquitted by the verdict of the Irpin City Court in Kyiv region on July 8, 2015.
