"On their path to their highest medals, Olha Harlan, Olena Voronina, Olena Kravatska and Halyna Pundyk have defeated teams from Kazakhstan (45:29), China (45:40), Italy (45:39) and in the final - Russia (45:39), taking thus revenge for their defeat in the "golden match" at the World Cup stage in Caracas,Venezuela, which took place three weeks ago," the statement reads.

This victory brings Ukrainians another step closer to obtaining a team license for the Olympic Games 2016 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The fencers face another two stages in Athens, Greece on Jan. 31, and in Ghent, Belgium on Feb. 21.
In the individual competition, Olha Harlan became the second best.
