Coalition failed to agree on the date of elections in Mariupol and Krasnoarmiisk, - Lutsenko

The factions of the parliamentary coalition have failed to arrive at a consensus regarding the date of local elections in Mariupol and Krasnoarmiisk as well as their legal basis.

Poroshenko Bloc faction leader Yurii Lutsenko said after a meeting of the Coalition Council that two factions, Poroshanko Bloc and People's Front, offer to hold elections in Mariupol on Nov. 15, Censor.NET reports citing Poroshenko Bloc's press service.

"Two factions of the coalition, Poroshenko Bloc and People's Front, have introduced a bill to postpone the vote on Nov. 15. The incumbent chairman of the Central Election Commission and his deputy confirmed it was the only legitimate way to ensure the will of the residents of Mariupol," he said.

"At the same time, Samopomich and Batkivshchyna factions took time for further consultations with their leadership," Lutsenko said.

The date of the next council's meeting is to be defined.
