Rada to make prompt decision on elections in Mariupol and Krasnoarmiisk – Hroisman

Verkhovna Rada Speaker Volodymyr Hroisman said that the Ukrainian Parliament will promptly decide on the local elections in Mariupol and Krasnoarmiisk.

He wrote on Facebook, Censor.NET reports.

"I can say that in general the elections were held without major incidents, much better than in the days of the previous government. The only unpleasant exception is the failure of elections in Mariupol and Krasnoarmiisk. The situation should be investigated and those responsible must be held accountable. Everyone should understand that the elections according to the old "dirty" schemes are no longer possible. I urge to the Central Election Commission to appoint elections in these cities as soon as possible. In turn, the Verkhovna Rada will make necessary decisions as soon as possible," he wrote.

He also stressed the low turnout, which, according to him, is explained by the fact that "the campaign was largely held under general political slogans."

He stressed that it is important for the elections to launch the process of renovation of the local elites, "especially in places where the previous authorities were not effective."
