 Conversion center couriers detained in Kyiv while shoot-out occurred

The Security Service of Ukraine ceased the activity of a conversion center in Kyiv, while a shoot-out between law enforcers and couriers occurred.

Censor.NET reports citing SBU press service.

According to available information, the center (with a daily turnover of UAH 15-20 mln (about $673,230-897,640)) accumulated significant amounts of "shadow" cash to be further spent on the election campaign of a political party.

"During the operation, the couriers tried to escape from prosecution by car but were quickly chased tonight, Oct. 23, on one of the central streets of the capital. One of the couriers opened fire on the security officers, while the other tried to escape with a large sum of cash that was in the car. In order to detain the criminals, the law enforcers were forced to fire back," the report notes.
