Criminal proceedings have been instituted, following requests by several political forces which representatives to the city election commission were replaced on the basis of forged documents.

The actions of malefactors have been qualified as forgery. The representatives of political parties "Nova Polіtyka" and "Zhinky za Maibutnie" filed a report with the Interior Ministry claiming offence of citizens' electoral rights, namely, sending forged documents to the Central Election Commission in order to replace certain members of the Dnipropetrovsk election commission, representing these political forces.

Having forged signatures and stamps, the criminals forwarded requests on behalf of the Dnipropetrovsk election commission to replace the representatives of the political forces in question without their knowledge.

The Central Election Commission took account of these requests to decide at its meeting on Oct. 21 to replace the members of the Dnipropetrovsk election commission by persons completely strange to the above parties.

Following the offence, criminal proceedings have been opened under Part 3 and 4 of Art. 358 (forgery of documents, seals, stamps, and forms, sale or use of forged documents, stamps, seals) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The article provides for up to five years in prison.
