 E-petition on Prosecutor General Shokin's dismissal received more than 25,000 signatures

The document, which is addressed to the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko and also stipulates for setting an open and transparent competition for the position of the prosecutor general of Ukraine, has received over 25,000 signatures as of Oct. 22.

As reported by Censor.NET, the petition is posted on the official website of the president.

"None of the prosecutors that you appointed delivered results the society has been waiting for. Each of them resigned because of a scandal over toping of corruptioners, and none was held accountable for his crime of omission.

"Mister Shokin has not been able to improve the Prosecutor's Office work since he took his post, however he was found covering corrupted prosecutors," the author of the petition notes.

E-petitions in Ukraine are regulated by the law "On citizens' appeals" and are filed for the head of state's consideration after receiving 25,000 signatures of citizens within three months after publication date.

The petition on Shokin's dismissal and setting an open competition for the prosecutor general's position was posted on Aug. 29, 2015. 38 days remain before it expires.
