This was announced by the National Security and Defense Council Secretary Oleksandr Turchynov in a commentary, Censor.NET reports citing the NSDC press service.
According to him, increase in the Russian war budget to $48 bln, against the country's recession and impoverishment of the Russian people, means that "Putin continues to transform Russia into a global military threat."
"Russia is called the major military threat not only in the National Security Strategy and Military Doctrine of Ukraine, but also by our strategic partners who have the same stance," Turchynov said, adding that in the National Military Strategy of the United States, implemented recently, Russia's aggressive policy has been listed first among the threats, "bypassing potential threats from the international terrorism and such 'democratic countries' as Iran and North Korea."
The NSDC Secretary noted that given the Russia's active military build-up, Ukraine's budget for the next year "shall not decrease defense and security expenses despite all the asperities."
"Our task is to be ready to repulse the aggressor and liberate the occupied territories, thus we are obliged to provide the army with modern equipment and weapons, and guarantee decent payment to our military," he said.
Oleksandr Turchynov also informed that the defense budget and the state defense order will be approved right after the Cabinet's definition of the budget parameters.
