According to the statement, the detainee is suspected of making deliberately false records in official documents during customs clearance of goods. As a result, the state has lost more than UAH 4 mln (about $181,910).
As also reported, starting from May this year, the criminal has been hiding from the prosecution in the occupied Crimea.
"The former customs officer has been detained by the SBU in one of the district centers of the Zakarpattia region when trying to obtain a false passport to travel abroad," the statement notes.
