Russian commandos Yerofeyev and Aleksandrov to be tried in Kyiv

Ukraine's High Specialized Court for Civil and Criminal Cases has sent the case against servicemen of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Russia Yevgeniy Yerofeyev and Alexander Aleksandrov to the Holosiivskyi district court of Kyiv for further consideration.

This was announced by presiding judge Stanislav Kravchenko, Censor.NET reports citing Ukrainski Novyny.

The meeting was attended by prosecutor and lawyers of the defendants. The convicts themselves were not present.

At the beginning of the meeting, the prosecutor read out a statement of the complainant, mother of murdered Ukrainian military Vadym Puhachov Tetiana, asking the High Specialized Court to hear the case in the Holosiivskyi district court of Kyiv. The request is caused by the fact she is now residing in this district of the capital.

The High Specialized Court has incorporated this statement in the case file.

In his turn, the lawyer of Russian military Aleksandrov Kostiantyn Kravchuk addressed the court with a request to change the measure of restraint for his client.

Judge Kravchenko stated it was not in capacity of the High Specialized Court to consider such requests.

As a result, the court decided on the exceptional nature of the case and allowed its further consideration at a place which should not be obligatory close to the crime scene. Furthermore, the court noted that the majority of witnesses and complainants live in Kyiv and named it a sufficient ground to sent the case against Russian military Aleksandrov and Yerofeyev to the Holosiivskyi district court of Kyiv for further consideration.

As reported earlier, the court extended the custody of Yerofeyev and Aleksandrov for 60 days and sent their case to the High Specialized Court to determine its territorial jurisdiction.
