Elections in Donbas may take place in 2016, - MP Lutsenko

Poroshenko Bloc faction chairman in the Verkhovna Rada Yurii Lutsenko admits that the local elections in the temporarily occupied territories of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions may be held in April 2016.

He said this to journalists, Censor.NET reports citing Ukrainski Novyny.

"The elections may theoretically take place in case the occupation troops are withdrawn and separatists lay down arms, as well as after adoption of the amendments to the constitution and the law [special law on local elections - ed.] sometime in April," he said.

According to Lutsenko, this scenario is agreed upon by the "Normandy Four" [Ukraine, Russia, France and Germany - ed.].
