 US will not lift sanctions against Crimea until it is returned to Ukraine, - Nuland

Washington will maintain the sanctions imposed against Crimea occupied by Russia until it is returned to Ukraine.

Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Victoria Nuland said speaking in Washington-based German Marshall Fund, Censor.NET reports citing Ukrinform.

"Crimean sanctions will remain as long as there is occupation," Nuland said.

At the same time, she said, the U.S. authorities are confident that the report on the causes of the Malaysian Boeing crash in the east of Ukraine will confirm their position on those responsible for this tragedy.

Nuland expressed hope that the Netherlands would manifest the investigation results in a week or 10 days. She also expressed confidence that the statement of Secretary of State John Kerry that was made three days after the attack would be confirmed in terms of who was responsible for this attack and weapons that were involved in downing.

She stressed that the perpetrators must be brought to justice, which was extremely important not only for Ukraine but also for the international community.
