Blockade of peninsula makes Crimea’s issue of paramount importance. It started smoothly but hard days are still ahead,” – MP Chubarov

Head of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, the Verkhovna Rada MP and one of the initiators of the "food blockade" of Crimea, believes that this action has turned the importance of the issue of Crimea occupied by Russia from marginal to paramount one.

Refat Chubarov said in an interview to Krym.Realii, Censor.NET reports.

"The participation of the state is the least of my worries now. The degree of support of the Ukrainian society is more relevant. And I am completely satisfied with it, not with the support for the action itself, which is important, but with understanding of its substance. I'd like to add that I have been following the thoughts of some experts in recent days and have noticed that they have identified the goals, which we did not voice before the action, and revealed the whole complex of our objectives. They said that it was the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatars thanks to which the blockade has turned into the all-Ukrainian action and turned the importance of the issue of Crimea from marginal to paramount one. It has also made the Crimean Tatars fully-fledged participants of the negotiation process, which was expected to be initiated as a result of other steps supervening from this action. Frankly speaking, we set ourselves this goal as well," he said.

"The first two days were calm but it was just a start. I think that hard days are still ahead. It is not easy for the carriers to take the loaded trucks back as it harms their business. One should be a true patriot to do so. If they have a will for this, the situation will remain relatively calm, if not - it will be hard," Chubarov told the developments of the action to block Crimea.

At the same time, he noted that the reaction of the Kremlin's puppets "resembled the hysteria of a shatter-brained person trying to make fun of us, to insult, to state that Crimea would not experience any scarcity." "We just aware of the situation in the food market in Crimea. To be honest, the occupation authorities will not be able to declare an official reaction to the blockade, it will be made by Moscow," Chubarov added.
