"Unfortunately, it was not completely calm yesterday. The illegal armed groups adhered to the cease-fire deal between midnight and 6 p.m. but the Ukrainian positions at the Artemivsk direction were fired at in the evening again," the statement reads.
It is noted that the enemy attacked the Ukrainian troops' strongholds in Maiorsk with sniper weapons, small arms, and grenade launchers at about 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. The militants attacked the Ukrainian forces' positions in Zaitseve village using small arms as well almost at 7 p.m. The enemy fired at the ATO soldiers' strongholds in Lozove with small arms at 6:55, 9:40 and 10:30 p.m.
Besides, the mercenaries shelled the Ukrainian detachments in the village of Luhanske from grenade launchers at around 11 p.m.
The militants also used a grenade launcher near Sokilnyky at the Luhansk direction at 10:30 p.m.
The headquarters also reported about acts of provocation committed by the pro-Russian gangs: "The mercenaries committed intense attack using small arms in the occupied territories near the demarcation line in the direction of the village of Zaitseve at around 6 p.m. The militants employed automatic grenade launcher in the vicinity of the village of Luhanske at 6:40 p.m. 30 grenades launched by the militants exploded 300 meters away from our position."
"The illegal armed detachments violated the cease-fire nine times totally over the past day. However no enemy attacks have been recorded in the ATO area today Sept. 23 from midnight to 6 a.m.," the ATO press-center reported.
The headquarters also added that despite the enemy's cynical desire to drag the ATO forces into active engagement, the Ukrainian soldiers have not opened fire in response strictly adhering to the peace agreements.
