The statement reads: "At the same time, according to our operative information, the recent attacks at Ukrainian positions were committed by gangs being under no one's control.
"There are panic rumors among illegal armed units' personnel about the end of Russia's Novorossia project.
"Realizing the futility of ideas which not so long ago they were ready to die for, mercenaries are gradually quitting gangs.
"For instance, part of militants have deserted from the 1st Army Corps of the so-called "LPR". About 230 mercenaries from the 2nd Army Corps, deployed in Alchevsk, refused to renew the contract which expires in October-November 2015," the press service resumes.
