"The situation with the rights of Tatars in Crimea is totally outraging. In fact, this is the second wave of genocide, when the Crimean Tatars are gradually forced out from Crimea. Ukraine cannot accept this. And if everyone has got used to it, this does not change the severity of the problem," Avakov said.
He noted that he was ready to provide security of the actions of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People to block the peninsula.
"We know about them [actions] staying in touch with the leaders of the movement, who initiate them. This kind of action is fair - we are able to completely enforce the law in this situation. I do not think that we are going to have security problems," Avakov said.
According to the minister, all the facts of illegal actions against the residents of Crimea including the Crimean Tatar community are recorded and will be treated legally.
"We have revived the Department of Internal Affairs of Crimea not so long ago, which, according to our joint decision with the prosecutor's office, will record all the violations against the rights of Ukrainian citizens in Crimea, including the Crimean Tatars. Sooner or later, it will probably be sooner rather than later, Crimea will be Ukrainian and everyone must be held accountable. And the people must regain their rights," Avakov said.
It should be reminded that Crimea was announced the temporarily occupied territory after its annexation by Russia in March 2014. The administrative boundary was established between the Ukrainian mainland and the peninsula.
The Crimean Tatar leaders declared that the Crimean Tatars were preparing an action to block the transport routs with Crimea from the Ukrainian side of the border with the peninsula. The beginning of the action is scheduled for Sept. 20-21.
