As reported by Censor.NET, this was announced by the Odesa regional Interior Ministry Department press service.
According to the authority, during investigation of a murder of a 27-year-old man, police found complicacy of another Odesa region resident, as well as his two henchmen, to the crime. The man has fled from the Luhansk predetention center (on the uncontrolled territory), where he had been serving his life sentence for committing a grave offense.
"Special operation aimed at detaining the criminals has been planned to be conducted in one of the districts, where the criminals were. A reinforced group of police officers involving operatives and a takedown team left for the destination. When the criminals took off to a highway, the law enforcers launched the detention. However, the criminals used fire weapons against the police officers and threw a grenade at their direction, causing wounds to seven law enforcers," the message reads.
The police officers used weapons to repulse the assault under article 15 of the Law of Ukraine "On police". As a result, two criminals were killed, the third one detained, the Interior Ministry informed.
Several guns, a grenade, a Kalashnikov, and 150 rounds of ammunition have been seized from the site.
