Representatives of the Russian Federation proposed to exchange Ukrainian director Oleh Sentsov and activist Oleksandr Kolchenko convicted in Russia for Russian special forces officers Alexander Aleksandrov and Yevgeny Yerofeyev detained in Ukraine.

Censor.NET reports citing Hromadske.

As Center for exchange of prisoners head Volodymyr Ruban said, the proposal came from the Russian side at the meeting in Minsk last week.

He noted that the Ukrainian side has to take the decision now.

"I will neither name the source, nor the side with which we communicated. It is because of their request. They are representatives of Russia, not of Donetsk. We met in Minsk. The conversation was quite serious," he said.

"However, I see that the Ukrainian side has decided to protract with the decision," he added.

On Monday, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Pavlo Klimkin did not rule out the possibility of exchange of Russian military Yerofeyev and Alexandrov detained in the Donbas on May 16 for Ukrainians who were kidnapped by Russia and convicted for different crimes.
