 Negligence in office named cause of death of National Guard soldier in Ivano-Frankivsk region, - prosecutors office

The Military Prosecutor's Office in Ivano-Frankivsk region launched an investigation into the death of the National Guard soldier at Starolysetskyi range in the Ivano-Frankivsk region having determined the nature of the crime as habitual negligence in service.

Military Prosecutor's Office of the Western Region spokesperson Mykola Hutsuliak said, Censor.NET reports citing Ukrainski Novyny.

"The criminal investigation into the negligence in office by the authorities of the National Guard military base, which resulted in the death of one serviceman and injuries of four other, is currently underway," he said.

The criminal proceedings have been initiated under Part 3 of the Article 425 of the Criminal Code.

National Guard spokesperson Svitlana Pavlovska noted that the ground has been closed for inspection due to the incident.

"The range is closed for inspection of each structure and the investigation by the committee of inquiry," she said.

She also added that the territory of shooting range had always been a restricted area.

As previously reported, one National Guard soldier was killed and four were injured due to the collapse of a balcony on the ground in the Ivano-Frankivsk region.
