Odesa Governor Saakashvili warns of possible deligitimization of Ukraine's political class

Head of the Odesa regional state administration Mikheil Saakashvili believes that without reforms, the country's political class is being deligitimized.

As reported by Censor.NET, he said this on air of Svoboda Slova show ('Freedom of Speech') on ICTV channel.

Saakashvili noted: "The most recent events have shown that the machine of government has been totally demoralized and cannot rule the country. This is obvious from a situation when the minister of economy cannot even fire heads of state enterprises.

"At the same time, as shown by the events in Mukacheve and near the Verkhovna Rada, law enforcement agencies are also failing to fulfill their functions. At the same time, a general deligitimization of the political class is being underway, as shown by recent polls.

"Almost all political class is sliding in the polls. When the prime minister says "I am not going to ballot", this can be justified. But on the other hand, when the head of the government does not want to test his support by the society through elections, while this is the only way to receive mandate in a democratic society, and he refuses this mandate, [then] delegitimization of the political class takes place," Saakashvili said.
