Resolution urging Russia to release Sentsov and Kolchenko submitted to European Parliament

The European Parliament is committed to hold a debate and adopt a resolution on Russia’s violation of international law and illegal abduction and detention of foreign citizens, including Ukrainian filmmaker Oleh Sentsov and activist Oleksandr Kolchenko.

The European People's Party group of the European Parliament told Ukrinform correspondent in Brussels, Censor.NET reports.

According to the group, the abduction and subsequent illegal retention of Estonian police officer Eston Kohver in Russia, and the conviction of Ukrainian filmmaker Oleh Sentsov and activist Oleksandr Kolchenko are the violation of international law by Russia. The parliamentarians have called for the detainees' immediate release and submitted the relevant resolution that would be discussed and voted on Thursday.
