Diamonds seized from prosecutor-grafter Korniiets worth over half a million hryvnia, - expert assessment

According to an expert assessment, the diamonds seized from former deputy prosecutor of Kyiv region Oleksandr Korniiets cost 535,000 hryvnia (over $23,000).

Censor.NET acquired the report of the forensic economical examination.

As noted in the document, the Prosecutor General's Office was interested in two matters: 1) what the average market value of the objects of study is, and 2) what features the objects of study have with regard to Ukrainian Classification of Commodities for Foreign Economic Activity.

It turned out that the diamonds seized from Korniiets, which he called "microscopic" and "cheap," are in fact "polished diamonds with multiple flat polished surfaces that do not require further processing for use in jewelry," while their market value is 535,000 hryvnia (over $23,000) as opposed to $701, as claimed by the prosecutor-grafter.

As expected, their cost is out of proportion to the prosecutor's salary, according to Korniiets' earnings certificate shown below.
