 Minimum wage, pension and maintenance allowance to be increased in Ukraine today

The minimum wage and a pension in Ukraine to be raised up to 1,378 hryvnia (about $60) and 1,074 hryvnia (about $47) respectively starting from today, Sept 1.

The public sector employees will receive additional payments, which will depend on the field they work in and their category. The maintenance allowance for students will be increased at the average of one hundred hryvnia. The payments received by single mothers and disabled people will also be increased.

The social standards will be raised on the average of 13 percent, the Ministry of Social Policy explained.

The Finance Ministry hastened to assure that the decision to raise social standards was agreed with the IMF. The agency is not going to "turn on the printing press".
