"Pursuant to order No. 1631 of Aug. 14, 2014 by the Chief of Staff of the anti-terrorist operation in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions Victor Nazarov, Interior Minister had to send to the ATO area certain National Guard and police units to be further controlled by the ATO HQ. After that, the ATO commander Muzhenko placed the said units under command of the ATO sectors. Interior Ministry sent Donbas, Dnipro and other units, their further handling being in charge of sectors leadership," he wrote.
As reported, the Chief of the General Staff - Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Viktor Muzhenko was appointed commander of the ATO in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions on May 26, 2014, as well as the First Deputy Head of the Anti-terrorist Center. "I already was the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the First Deputy Head of the Anti-terrorist Center at that time, being in charge of the ATO at the AC. The Ilovaisk operation was pushed by the Interior Ministry at the AC... The operation, being a tactical task within the entire ATO, got in charge of the B sector command. It had to establish proper interaction, and Gen. Khomchak's presence (B sector commander - ed.) in Ilovaisk was unnecessary. It was one of his personal initiatives. He was out there at first stages to arrange interaction. Then he had to hand over the command. The First Deputy Interior Minister Gen. Yarovoi was their at that moment and he was supposed to take control."
"Cenzor.NET contacted the Deputy Minister Sergei Yarovoi, who is falsely claimed by Muzhenko to be in command of the ATO forces in Ilovaisk back in August 2014. Documents can't be contested. Everything was preserved. Names of those, who gave orders can be found in the archives.
"Yarovoi says that all National Guard and police units were sent to the B sector following a written order by Muzhenko, the ATO commander. The Deputy Interior Minister assured Censor.NET that he provided all the information available to the investigation team of the Chief Military Prosecutor's Office, and is ready to confirm it in the court. In the near future, I will publish an interview with Yarovoi, where he dwells about the Ilovaisk operation. Tomorrow the interview will be ready complete with all signatures and documents," Butusov said.
