 Poroshenko urges U.S. and EU to react to Russia's escalation of conflict

President Poroshenko informed Vice President Biden on the results of the recent trilateral meeting with President of France Francois Hollande and Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel in Berlin, in the course of which the parties coordinated actions to ensure fulfillment of the Minsk agreements by Russia.

The head of state urged the American party and the European partners to provide a consolidated and resolute response to Russia's attempts at provoking escalation in the Donbas, which is proved by intensified cease-fire violations. The president emphasized that Ukraine strictly abides by the Minsk agreements.

Joseph Biden praised the reforms underway in Ukraine, in particular, the constitutional reform on decentralization.

The parties discussed military-technical cooperation and future contacts between Ukraine and the US in the framework of the events scheduled for the 70th session of the UN General Assembly to be held in September in New York.

The US vice president praised Ukraine's efforts aimed at stabilization of the macro-financial situation and appreciated an agreement on debt restructuring reached by Ukraine and the Special Committee of Creditors on Aug. 27.
