 Local elections not to be held in occupied Donbas territories, - Central Election Commission

Local elections planned for Oct. 25 will not be held in the occupied territories, including 125 settlements in the Donetsk region and 146 - in the Luhansk region.

This is reported by Censor.NET citing Interfax-Ukraine.

Central Election Commission took note of a list of local councils with no elections scheduled, after considering reports by the heads of the Donetsk and Luhansk regional military and civil administrations at a meeting on Friday. These councils are located in non government-controlled areas.

The local elections are not scheduled in the Antratsyt, Krasnodon, Lutuhyne, Perevalsk, Popasna, Slavianoserbsk, Stanytsia Luhanska districts, as well as in the cities of Luhansk, Alchevsk, Antratsyt, Brianka, Kirovsk, Krasnodon, Krasnyi Luch, Pervomaiske, Rovenky, Sverdlovsk and Stakhanov.

In the Donetsk region the elections are not scheduled in the Amvrosiivka, Artemivsk, Volnovakha, Marinka, Novoazovsk, Starobesheve, Telmanove, Shakhtarsk districts, as well as in the cities of Donetsk, Horlivka, Yenakiieve, Zhdanivka, Kirovske, Makiivka, Snizhne, Torez, Khartsyzsk, Shakhtarsk and Yasynuvata.

According to the law, the CEC is to consider the above reports one of these days and approve the list of local councils with no possibility to hold the local elections on Oct. 25.
