 Ukraine will not default as enemies expected, - Yatseniuk

Ukraine was able to agree with the creditors' committee upon the restructuring and partial remission of the country’s debt.

Prime Minister of Ukraine Arsenii Yatseniuk stated opening an extraordinary government session on Thursday, Censor.NET informs citing Interfax-Ukraine.

"Ukraine will not default as expected by the enemies," Yatseniuk said.

"Thanks to the efforts of the Minister of Finance and the Government of Ukraine we managed to attain the following conditions: first - our debt holders have written off 20 percent of the state's debt," Yatseniuk said.

He added that the writing off of almost $ 4 billion was meant. "Ukraine will not default as expected by the enemies," Yatseniuk reiterated.

Ukraine will not pay the principal of the loan for four years as well.

It was reported earlier that Ukraine has agreed with debt holders to write off 20 percent or $3.8 billion of Ukraine's $19,3-billion state debt.
