Situation near Svitlodarsk salient and section of front near Sea of Azov coast deteriorated, - ATO speaker

Militants continue shelling Ukrainian troops’ positions in the ATO area using heavy weapons banned by Minsk agreements. The situation at the Donetsk direction near the Svitlodarsk salient and the section of the front near the coast of the Sea of Azov as well as at the Mariupol direction has aggravated over the past 24 hours.

Presidential Administration Speaker on ATO Colonel Andrii Lysenko announced today at a briefing, Censor.NET reports.

The report reads: "There were medium and low intensity encounters at the Luhansk direction. The enemy committed four attacks with mortars and grenade launchers on the positions near Stanytsia Luhanska and Shchastia in the evening. At the same time, two enemy provocations were recorded in Krymske village.

"The Ukrainian positions near the village of Orikhove on Bakhmutka road also came under fire from enemy grenade launchers. "The situation at the Donetsk direction deteriorated near the Svitlodarsk salient. 10 encounters took place at the Rozsadky - Luhanske - Lozove section of the front yesterday. The Ukrainian positions in Luhanske were also impacted from 152-mm guns yesterday morning. The enemy battery that committed the strike was deployed in the occupied Vuhlehirsk. However, the truce was almost perfectly observed by the terrorists near Horlivka - only one mortar strike was recorded on the southwestern outskirts of the city near the village of Novhorodske yesterday.

"Two artillery strikes impacted our positions situated on the first and second lines of defense on the section of the front between Horlivka and Donetsk yesterday. The projectiles came from the village of Krasnyi Partyzan near Horlivka and the town of Yasynuvata. The military situation near the Donetsk airport has not changed yesterday. The artillery of the invaders impacted Avdiivka in the evening again. The enemy committed shelling with 122-mm guns deployed in the village of Spartak located at the very front line. The power transmission lines and several houses were damaged. One shell hit the children's playground.

"The enemy repeatedly used heavy mortars, tanks, and artillery against our forward positions in Opytne, Vodiane, and Pisky during evening attacks. The intensity of the enemy assaults has also significantly increased between the Donetsk - Dnipropetrovsk and Donetsk - Zaporizhia highways. The invaders have concentrated large forces in the villages of Staromykhailivka and Oleksandrivka as well as in the Petrivskyi district of Donetsk. Skirmishes between the militants and the ATO forces took place both in the day time and at night.

"The medium and long range artillery and mortar strikes continue impacting Ukrainian fortifications at the Mariupol direction. Eight enemy mortar strikes on defense line between Starohnativka and Hranitne were recorded yesterday.

"The situation at the section of the front near the coast of the Sea of Azov has deteriorated: the enemy was shelling the Ukrainian troops' positions in Lebedynske and Sopyne villages with 122-mm artillery between midnight and 1 a.m. It was calm at the sea coast the rest of the day after that. In addition, the Ukrainian soldiers repelled the attack by the invaders' subversive reconnaissance group, which tried to infiltrate near Novotroitske in the evening. The enemy retreated after a 10-minute clash." Lysenko said.
