 Court sentenced Ukrainian filmmaker Sentsov to 20 years in prison. VIDEO

The North-Caucasus district military court in Rostov-on-Don, Russia, has convicted Crimean prisoners Oleh Sentsov and Oleksandr Kolchenko.

Censor.NET reports that the court has sentenced Ukrainian filmmaker Oleh Sentsov to 20 years in jail.

"The court determines punishment of 20 years in penal colony for Sentsov by cumulation of crimes," the judge said.

Delivering his last speech, Sentsov refused to admit his guilt. Sentsov and Kolchenko were singing Ukrainian anthem when the Russian court was voicing its verdict.

The verdict is not final and can be appealed in the Court of Appeal. In addition, Sentsov's lawyers will appeal to the European Court of Human Rights, and will insist on absolution of the filmmaker.

It is known that the prosecutor demanded Sentsov to be imprisoned for 23 years in a penal colony and two years of custodial restraint after he would serve his sentence, as well as 12 years imprisonment for Kolchenko followed by a half-year custodial restraint.
