 Ukrainians supported army with 159.5 million UAH, - Ministry of Defense

Since the beginning of the ATO, the Ministry of Defense has received 159.5 million UAH (about $7.23 million) from the citizens of Ukraine, including 6.16 million UAH (about $279,608) received in 2015.

As reported by Censor.NET citing UNN, this was announced by the Head of the Defense Ministry PR Department Oksana Havryliuk at a briefing today.

"Ukrainian armed forces continue receiving support from the citizens of Ukraine. In the framework of Support Ukrainian Army initiative the Ministry of Defense has received about 159.5 million UAH, including 6.16 million UAH received in 2015. Out of this amount, about 145 million UAH were intended for material and technical support, and the rest - for medical support. 565 call number support helped raise more than 1.15 million UAH (about $50,611) since the beginning of 2015. All the money is meant for material and technical support of Ukrainian military," Havryliuk said.

In 2015, the Ministry of Defense also received foreign currency transfers from individuals and organizations, equaling to 860,000 UAH (about $39,036).
