 Rada to consider bill on decentralization Aug. 31, Chairman says

An extraordinary session of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine will be held on Aug. 31.

Verkhovna Rada Chairman Volodymyr Hroisman said on air of Channel 5 Thursday night, Censor.NET reports citing Ukrainska Pravda.

According to him, the announced meeting will consider a bill on decentralization. "After consultations with the Ukrainian MPs, we have decided that it will be Aug. 31 when we make legislation on the next amendments to the Constitution of Ukraine in the part of decentralization of power," Hroisman said.

He also said that this law is planned to be definitely adopted at the next session. "The final legislation with 300 votes or even more in support of amendments to the Constitution in terms of decentralization will be after we consult with the MPs. And the next session will begin Sept. 1."

It is known that the conclusion of the Constitutional Court on the conformity of the draft law on amendments to the Constitution in the part of the decentralization of power with the terms of the Articles 157 and 158 of the Basic Law was submitted to the Verkhovna Rada Aug. 3.
