 Militants shelled Ukrainian troops’ positions near Donetsk with Grads, - ATO headquarters

The activity of the pro-Russian militants decreased in the area of the anti-terrorist operation Wednesday, Aug. 19. The enemy used mainly small arms inviting Ukrainian soldiers’ retaliation. However, several cases of violations of the Minsk accords have still been recorded.

The report reads: "In particular, the militants shelled our positions in the village of Novobakhmutivka near Donetsk with Grads at 2:35 a.m. They also shelled civilian houses in Marinka from tank at around 6 a.m. Terrorists' 122-mm artillery impacted the ATO forces' positions in Starohnativka at around 3 a.m. and in Novotroitske at 12:45 p.m., both in the vicinity of Mariupol. In addition, the invaders shelled houses of peaceful residents in Pavlopil with mortars at about 5 a.m."

According to the ATO headquarters, the mercenaries committed a heavy hour long shelling of the ATO forces' strong point in the village of Travneve at the Artemivsk direction from 120-mm mortars at 3:50 p.m.

"Ukrainian troops remained unprovoked and opened response fire only in cases of direct threats to the lives of troops strictly observing the Minsk agreements," the statement reads.
