Thieves in law move their business from Odesa region, - Odesa Governor Saakashvili

Ex-president of Georgia, Odesa Governor Mikheil Saakashvili says the city's underworld did not dare to physically remove him out of cowardice.

As reported by Censor.NET, he announced this in an interview to Novaya Gazeta.

"They (thieves in law - ed.) move their business from here. There was a score in Prague, where the decision was taken. They do not assassinate me, because they are mere cowards. High-rank criminals are often cowards, having the same corruption within their world," the governor said.

"You know, one major Georgian hierarch was indignant, asking how we could get rid of all thieves in law! They helped the church, donated so much money... In Odesa, one churchman also asked me about protection for a port official. I had kept my eye on that official for a long time, but then I fired him immediately," Saakashvili said.

As reported before, May 30, 2015, the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko appointed Mikheil Saakashvili the Head of Odesa Regional State Administration, having dismissed Ihor Palitsa from the post.
