According to the HQ, illegal armed units significantly reduced provocative attacks on Ukrainian positions, using predominantly small arms. At the same time, a few violations of the Minsk agreements regarding the use of large-caliber weapons still occurred.
"Near Donetsk, in the evening and close to midnight, the enemy used 120-mm mortars to shell our strong holds in Krasnohorivka and Berezove. Around 8 p.m. militants fired grenade launchers, heavy machine guns, and small arms at Marinka village. Avdiivka got under 122-mm artillery and mortar fire twice. From 10 p.m. mercenaries fired 152-mm artillery on the ATO positions in the villages of Hirnyk, Nevelske, Krasnohorivka," the report reads.
As reported, in the area of Mariupol, at 6:45 p.m. the Ukrainian troops in Starohnativka got under 120-mm mortar fire. At 6:57 p.m. the same locality was hit by missile artillery.
"In the Artemivsk direction, around 7:30 p.m. terrorists fired anti-tank missiles at Luhanske village. The Ukrainian army units in Krymske, the Luhansk region, got under BMP fire.
"In general, over the past day, illegal armed units committed 86 violations of cease-fire. Mercenaries used artillery 12 times, mortars - 27 times, small arms and grenade launchers - 52 times," the HQ stated adding that after midnight, Aug. 18, the enemy went on using small arms in its sporadic provocative attacks, mostly in the Donetsk direction.
