 OSCE Permanent Council to hold special meeting on Ukraine Aug. 19

The Serbian delegation currently chairing the OSCE has convened a special meeting of the Permanent Council of the organization on the situation in Ukraine. The event is scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 19.

TASS reports citing the OSCE press service, Censor.NET informs.

Head of the Special Monitoring Mission (SMM) Ertugrul Apakan is expected to report on the situation in the east of Ukraine at the meeting. He will also inform the representatives of 57 countries on the efforts made by the SMM with regard to monitoring and the creation of conditions for the conflict resolution.

The OSCE Secretariat expects escalation of violence in the Donbas will be discussed at the meeting of the Permanent Council due to increase of the number of ceasefire violations and attacks with civilian casualties recently recorded by OSCE SMM.
