According to the authority, the group consisted of five residents of the Luhansk region, aged from 32 to 48, four of whom had previous convictions. The group also had a qualified safecracker. The proceeds received from sale of stolen goods were used to finance terrorism in the Luhansk region.
As reported, the SBU operatives and police detained four attackers during the theft. On the same day, in the Luhansk region, a gang's accomplice was detained, who organized sale and transfer of stolen property to the territory controlled by the terrorists from the "LPR".
"During searches at the temporary residences of migrant criminals, law enforcers seized grenades and a shotgun with ammunition, national and foreign currency, jewelry, watches, computers and household appliances, a variety of special unlocking tools, master keys and duplicate keys equipment, balaclavas, radio communications, photos of houses for future robberies, drugs, separatist symbols," the report says.
Group members have been announced suspicion of committing crimes under Art. 263 (illegal handling of weapons), 185 (theft), 187 (robbery), 309 (illegal possession of drugs) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The SBU is clarifying their possible direct involvement in the "LPR" terrorist activities.
