 10,000 Russian soldiers and 30,000 militants stay in Donbas, - General Staff

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine declares about 10,000 Russian soldiers and 30,000 militants are still staying in the occupied territories in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions.

This was announced by the General Staff press center head Vladyslav Selezniov on air of 5 Channel, Censor.NET reports citing Ukrainski Novyny.

According to him, the available information signals of a possible large-scale attack by militants and Russian military on the ATO forces positions.

"About 10,000 Russian military deployed on the territory of Ukraine, 50,000 Russian military located at its borders, as well as about 30,000 pro-Russian militants make a powerful force," Selezniov said.

At the same time, he says Ukrainian military are ready to use all means to repel an attack.

Selezniov said that in fighting near Starohnativka and Marinka in the Donetsk region Ukrainian troops managed to repulse enemy attacks without involving aircraft though it might be used in future.

The spokesman emphasizes the use of air forces is quite risky.

"According to intelligence, militants possess quite powerful anti-aircraft weaponry," Selezniov said.

As reported before, as a result of fighting near Starohnativka, Aug. 9, Ukrainian military managed to move forward and take more favorable positions than before.
